Fighting back the recession for young people

Working for Us', the annual Positive Futures report, reveals that Positive Futures is getting young people back on track and back to work in some of the country’s most disadvantaged communities.

The report reviews the progress of the programme over the last year. The report was launched on 2nd December 2009. Home Office Minister, Alan Campbell, sent a video message at the London event. There will be a series of follow-on project-based events throughout December.

Chief Executive of Catch22, Joyce Moseley, says,

“Positive Futures has stood the test of time through a testing year. The programmes success is the young people’s success demonstrated by the range of qualifications and achievements demonstrated throughout the report. Catch22 is proud to be taking the programme forward in to its next phase, to reach more young people, to provide more opportunities for training and employment and broaden the scope for young people to make positive life choices.”

Home Office Minister Alan Campbell says:

“We are determined to prevent young people getting involved in any form of crime or anti-social behaviour. This programme is an excellent example of the type of work taking place across the country to reach young people; build relationships of trust and respect, and help shape their futures.

“The government has invested more than £100 million in tackling and preventing youth crime and this shows that by working together, Government, local authorities, young people, we can really make a difference. “

During the launch, young people showcased their talents and achievements and marked the programme’s positive impact on them and their communities.  A film ‘Take it from us’ will communicate young people’s success through their ‘voice’ available to download at Positive Futures new website, also launched today at the Positive Futures website.
