First Sported Stakeholder Event

In conjuction with sported, on the 28th September, Substance held an event to share learning from the first phase of the research project. The event was attended by 15 key national agencies for sport who heard about the ambitions of the Foundation and the reasons for commissioning the research from sported founder and Chair Sir Keith Mills. Tim Crabbe then presented an overview of the first phase of the work and the approach being taken. He also introduced initial indicator pathways that have been developed for a series of outcomes we would hope sport could contribute to. These were considered during a series of round table discussions which were also informed by illustrative evidence from pilot projects.

Those at the event also left with some current information on national data that could be used to enhance exisiting programmes for those agencies delivering in deprived communities. The next event will take place in Spring 2011, where a new tool designed to measure projects' contribution to different outcomes will be introduced and made available to those stakeholders who wish to join the piloting over the following phase.

Deputy Director of sported. Vanessa Brown, said 'it was pleasing to see the sector come together to support this critical piece of work. Collectivley those in the sector who are supporting the research will be able to have a measurement tool that will not only be useful for those on the ground delivering but also for those agencies looking to collect evidence for future investment.'
