Prior to joining the team, Alice worked in the Cultural Sector, specifically on music education and new writing programmes.
Adamis founder member and director of Substance He leads a number of research projects concerning sport and its social and community impacts, notably in football, angling and major sporting events. Adam is currently leading our major three-year Big Lottery Fund angling project.
David is Substance’s Media Innovator, who comes from a background in Youth and Community work in both the public and voluntary sector. He is specialist in open source software and website based tools. David uses tools to empower groups and inform research.
After two years of providing M&E at a Positive Futures project on the Wirral, Andy was approached by Substance to provide SPRS training to similar projects throughout Britain. A busy year of training followed, culminating in his taking up the role of Training and Support Manager in December 2009.
Tim is a founder member, Director and Chair of Substance. He has a specialist interest in young people, sport and popular culture and a long track record of conducting both ‘pure’ academic and applied research around these issues as well as tailored monitoring and evaluation exercises for specific policy initiatives.
Natalie joined the Substance team in April 2009 as one of the lead researchers on Substance’s Big Lottery Angling Research programme. She heads the Young People and Angling section of the project, focusing on how participation in angling can be used to combat social exclusion, build young peoples resilience and contribute...
Kath is a founder member and Director of Substance. Her principle research interests include participatory qualitative research methods, young people, social exclusion and crime prevention.
Steven is Substance’s IT Enabler. He has a background in the third sector working with a range of organisations over the past ten year to enable them to make better use of technology tools.
After graduating Alasdair dove into the Internet by working in the technical department of one of the oldest ISP's and played a crucial part in bringing the .coop gTLD to the world.
Gavin is a founder member and Director of Substance. His principal research interests are community/social policy, monitoring and evaluation, action research and young people and social inclusion. Gavin is Substance’s lead on SPRS and the Kickz programme.
