This report presents the findings from three years of detailed research into the estate based community development work of Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme. Given the current focus on the role that voluntary and community organisations can play in addressing social concerns and uncertainty around the impact of new policy directions we believe there may be a wider audience for On the Eastside's key messages than when the report was first written in 2004. So we decided to publish it with only minor amendments and with the addition of this short foreword and a postscript from LOCSP’s current Director Neil Taylor.
