It's a new ball game for those commissioning, delivering and evaluating a whole range of public services, including those for young people. Substance's third national conference confronts the impact of the spending review and public sector cuts head on. What are the new rules of engagement? How can you respond?

A New Ball Game brought together policy makers, commissioners, practitioners and researchers to start to provide some answers:

• What do commissioners need to be looking for?
• How can programmes and projects on the ground respond
and demonstrate their value?
• How do you stand out from the crowd?
• What will changes mean for commissioning, grants, delivery and evaluation?

With an emphasis on localism and personalisation, the 'Big Society' offers both threats and opportunities. Find out what yours are.
